As ive discovered about 10:45 at night 10 miles from the place i was staying, GRAND AM'S SUCK!!!! Mine had stalled and died once a week ago while the mechanics were changing the oil, installing new air filters, running a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it..... Only died once since that, at a stoplight, and restarted fine with no problem. Drive probably 40-55 miles and as im in the middle of a back country s curve, it dies as im coming out of the first turn. Restarts but sounds like it will blow the hell up, RPM's are running high, and the minute you put it into drive it kills the engine and wont start for a minute. Towed the car to house, father thinks it is a clogged fuel filter, something messing up in the fuel lines... not really sure as of yet. I hate this car, only got it because my toyota messed up and had to have a car for work 3 years ago. Parts are expensive, labor is high to install said parts, and not worth the money. I was planning to sell the car last month and purchase my recently deceased grandfather's pickup to help g-ma out, but now have to pay somewhere probably between 500-1000 to get this damn car able to sell for what i owe on it. Piece of crap, would never let anyone i know buy a pontiac.

am now having this problem with my grand am but I can not drive it! The previous poster had this problem for three years, are you still driving it? Mine randomly stalled out at a light on my way home and then continued to stall out unlesss I gave it gas. When I got home I opened the hood to a burning smell and a little bit of smoke. The car idles and drives so hard it feels like going up hill on a wooden rollercoaster. Have you found anyone who knows what the problem is yet? Have you taken it to Pontiac dealerships? My problem is it crapped out at the wrong time and its my only car! I have no money to randomly pay mechanics to tell me they dont know! This isnt the only problem I have had with this damn car my parents handed down to me. NEVER BUY THIS CAR, EVER!
