Grand Am SE 3.4L
Side windows, front and rear, passengers side and drivers side all get etched when rolled down by what I suspect to be dirt that gets lodged in the felt on the outside of the window. After years of rolling down the windows, the etching gets pretty bad. I have auto windows, I don't know if it happens with manual crank windows. I've tried scraping out the dirt, but it still happens. I talked to an auto body technician from a Pontiac dealership who said he thinks they manufactured that part of the door too narrow for the window so it ends up etching the window with the slightest bit of dirt in there. I've talked to so many other Grand Am owners who've had the same issue, I'm absolutely convinced they should recall them for this problem and repair it free of cost...including replacement of the glass. Not to mention that the window regulators go so often, they should recall it for that too. Oh well...there's no talking to car manufacturers about anything, so guess I'll just deal with it, lol.
