My car was recalled for faulty blinkers. Which I wasn't having trouble with, but thought I might as well get them replaced to avoid trouble later. Unfortunately, the new replacement has given me trouble. Sometimes the blinkers come on all by them selves or when I do use the blinkers, sometimes it blinks at a very fast rate which I'm afraid it will appear as if the blinker isn't actually on. I can't tell from the inside. I have no idea when this started happening, just that it was shortly after the blinkers were replaced. The "approximate incident date" is a wild guess.

The contact owns a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. The contact stated that the turn signals work intermittently and the intake manifold gasket failed in January of 2005. The vehicle was towed to a small town without a GM dealer and was repaired by an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the gasket with an after market manifold gasket. However, the replacement gasket was also defective and caused the entire manifold to be repaired a third time. The cost of the repair was $829.59. The contact wants to be reimbursed for the repair since the manifold was defective. The speed was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 150,000.

1. the vehicle has had a gas smell since purchase in 03. I had it into dealership whom said there was no problem. I found out from internet pages this is a common intake seal problem that should have been repaired while under 2 year extended warranty. Smell of gas has made persons sick. 2. fan control switch fails and only works on #3 setting or higher. 3. turn indicators fail intermittently. 4. electronics computer fails intermittently and has to be reset by turning the car off and restarting. (was this made by microsoft?).

The contact stated the turn signals started working improperly about two years ago. When they were not working there was no light indicated inside or outside of the car. When she touched the hazard switch button just slightly and the turn signals were activated. There was recall 03V327000 for the turn signals, but this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN. She talked to the manufacturer, and they told her that this vehicle turn signal problem was not the same as indicated in the recall. Updated 11/30/2005 -

The turn signal will not work properly. Sometimes it is delayed, other times it will shut itself off and other times it did not work. The problem first started in July 2005 then after that it didn't happen again until August 22, 2005. The consumer was concerned and took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer repaired the problem at no cost to the consumer.

Steering is going out on the vehicle. Vehicle is in the shop due to a recall on the hazard signal. When putting on the turn signal to go left or right the steering would sound like it makes awhistling noise. From underneath it sounds like knocking or rattling sound.

Everytime I turn on my turn signal on, when I complete the turn, the turn light goes off but it seems that a "tick" continues like I got the turn signal on. I went to the dealer ship to have the fuse replace and after a few days it would start back up.

I purchased my vehicle in Feb. Of 2000 brand new. Starting last summer, I noticed a clicking noise coming from the stereo area of my vehicle. The noise seems to come from the hazard warning lights switch located just above my radio. Since the switch still worked, I figured it was something physical that was loose behind the molding. This summer, when the temperature got extreme hot in the months of June and July, the clicking started again. I then noticed another problem. Sometimes my turn signal lights do not work. I will have to hit the hazard warning lights button a few times to get my turn signals to work. I was going to have an estimate for the cost of replacement, but found out that there was a recall on these incidents. The NHTSA campaign id is 03V327000. Reading the recall notice shows that my car is showing the same problems. The problems with the turn signal did not start until the hot summer months of June and July (they continue every so often as of this complaint). I called the GM customer assistance number and gave them my VIN. Toynicia jackson answered and said I should reference case 1-238622769. She was very helpful but said the reason I did not get a recall notice was because my vehicle was not covered. Even though it is a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, she said that it could have had different parts used. I plan on sending information to GM/Pontiac as well about this issue. Since I am having the same problems as described in the NHTSA recall notice I believe my vehicle should be covered under the recall. Please look into this matter. My VIN is [xxx]. the vehicle is a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am which I purchased new in Feb. Of 2000.
