Grand Am GT 3200 V6
Just purchased car. Check engine light was on and temperature gauge was working intermittently. Some brown sludge on oil dip stick. On warm days the temp gauge would work and on cool days it wouldn't. When gauge was working the car would come up to operating temp (200 degrees) after 15 miles of driving. Hooked car up to OBDII tool and trouble code was "engine running too cool." Installed new thermostat and problem solved. Check engine is now off, gauge works 100% of the time and car hits operating temp within a mile or two. Fuel economy is improved. The brown sludge is gone.
