My car was brand new, top of the line, bought off of the show room floor.
Very sporty and fast. I loved it.
I returned home after work, got out of my car, leaving it in the garage & 5 minutes later
I saw smoke coming from the garage.
I looked out the door, smoke and fire was coming from under my hood.
I took my 84 year old mother, who is living with me ,out the back door while calling 911.
Needless to say, my car & my Mothers both totally burned and also catching my house on fire. My husband came home too late to do anything.
The nightmare doesn't stop here. It only got worse.
We had to move to temporary housing which we stayed for 8 months while our contractor, Serve Pro, worked on our house.
We had fire & smoke damage. When October'07 came (8 months after the fire) our insurance company (ALLSTATE) said they weren't paying anymore temporary housing, that the contractor should now pay.
Serve Pro man said he didn't have any money to pay but would pay for 2 weeks.
We then were thrown out in the street, WE HAD TO MOVE BACK IN OUR HOUSE.
There was no bathrooms working/finished, no heating or air.
We had to put up 2 beds, one for my spouse and myself & my 84 year old Mother.
We are not wealthy people, when Allstate paid us for our car, we replaced my Grand Prix with a repossessed car and had to add a couple of thousand dollars to be able to get it.
My Mother took the insurance money and decided not to drive any longer.
Today is March 18, 2008 and I still have Serve Pro workers working in my house.
This has been the two worst years of our lives.
Years are especially precious, my Mother who probably doesn't have too many years left has had to endure this with us.
When we asked her to come live with us, I wanted only to make the rest of her life
a good life since she had a terrible childhood.
I have now given Serve Pro the rest of this week to finish or I call local people in & pay them with the last draw.
The moral of this story is: stay away from Serve Pro and ALLSTATE Insurance.

My car was paid for, I kept up with the maintenance, never had a problem. Bought it brand new in Oct 99. leather seats, supercharged engine, the sports package I guess it was. Car was sweet AND FAST. Loved it! Managed to pay it off in about 3 years b/c I had more money then...well...This past Friday, my friend and I got out of the car and 5 minutes later I was asked to come outside b/c my car was on fire. Went outside and sure enough, there was fire shooting out from underneath the engine and smoke everywhere. In the 5 minutes that it took the police/fire department to get there, it was up in flames. No smell, no lights, no warning while we were in the car. The car is completely totaled, the engine was melted, they had to cut the hood open with some kind of chainsaw to get in there and make sure it was out. Not fun. I don't have the money to shell out for car payments now. I loved that car and put alot into it. It was "my dream car". Now it's a pile of mangled and burnt metal at the tow yard and I have to look for a new car with money I don't have. Frickin' wonderful. :'(

After returning home at 1 a.m. on Saturday night, I backed my car into the garage in my home and noticed smoke coming from the headlamps. I immediately disengaged the hood, noticed that the engine was on fire and immediately got it out of the house so as not to catch the whole house on fire. This could've been a complete tragedy burning down my whole house but instead only my car is totaled. I got the car onto the street, ran back into the house to call the fire department who responded immediately to the call. Not sure what the outcome of the insurance is going to be, but just put new tires on it before the winter, treat it like a member of the family cleaning it and taking really good care of it and now I'm out of a car. There were absolutely NO signs of any problems with the engine b/c I had just driven it home for l/2 hour, turned it off and the fire started. Why isn't Pontiac recalling this engine??? My whole home could've been destroyed possibly resulting in injury or even death to any member of my family in the home. Something NEEDS to be done about it. Besides mental anguish, I absolutely don't want to see anyone else have to go through this. No one should have to risk their life or the life of someone else because of a lack of negligence on Pontiac's part. Something needs to be done! Pontiac, please listen to your clients so nobody else gets seriously hurt!

I had the car for 3 weeks, worked perfect loved it would fly. I drove it the lunch and came back to work and parked it. 10 minutes later I smelled smoke and walked outside to see flames shooting from under the hood. Total loss in engine compartment. There are many complaints about these cars catching fire this way. GM needs to figure out what is happening to them.

Grand Prix GTP 3.8L V6 Supercharged
My wife was driving to work one morning and she noticed the check engine light was blinking continuously. She had not seen this happen before so she pulled into the nearest parking lot and shut the engine off. she got out of the car and went to go into a nearby building to use the phone, when she got to the door she turned around and saw a flame shoot out from under the hood. The car was claimed a total loss by insurance and 4 months later we received a notice by Pontiac that the car could potentially start on fire due to motor oil leaking into the exhaust manifold during hard braking. We were lucky this car was not parked in our garage when the fire occurred. To my knowledge the supercharged cars are the ones at risk.
