My blower only works on 5 so either you freeze from the air or die from the heat. This must be a GM problem my husband owns a 2000 Silverado, same problem.

Common GM problem. Replaced same part on Grand Am and Grand Prix. Very annoying, probably should have been recalled.

the fan blower stopped working on all settings but 5. now it doesn't work at all. took it to my regular mechanic who could not find the source of the problem. I know it is not the control switches that was replaced. i think it may be tied in with the automatic headlights because that stopped working at the same time. you can turn the headlights on manually and they will work.

AC/heater fan would only blow on 5. We researched prob on web, narrowed it down to ignition switch or resistor pack. My husband messed with ignition switch and fan switch simultaneously - got it to work on lower speeds temporarily. We took car into mechanic told him all of the above & asked that he test ignition switch. He called and said after evaluation was convinced it was resistor pack. Reluctantly agreed to switching out resistor pack. Next day went to pick it up & tested the "fixed" fan switch...after we paid around $200, and guess what didn't work below 5? Mechanic was speechless when we walked right back in & told him it wasn't working for us. Received call the next day that after some research he found where others were having same problem & the ignition switch seemed to be the problem. Really? Wasn't that what we said on day one?!? Kudos to him though, he replaced ignition switch for free & it has worked perfectly ever since. Was still a pain in the ass!!!!
