When I did the call back on the key and ignition at a GM dealer, the crackling noise started a few days after, real loud inside the car. So I stop on side of the road and call the GM dealer to find out what happened or what they did when they changed the ignition and key. They said all was fine but if I took it back in for them to look at it, they said that if the noise or problem was not done by them, there will be a charge for me taking in the car, then he started to say the price of labor and parts if needed.. I had my cell phone on speakerphone so he could hear the noise and he told me that they had nothing to do with it but,,,, I never had the noise before I took it in the Gm dealer.

So anyways, I did not take the car into them. I took it to a mechanic, he said he things it's something to do with the rack and pinion steering, over a $400.00 job he said.. So I waited, now it went away for a bit, now it's back. I am so pissed at Gm because I don't know, and how can I prove that it was done by Gm dealer. They can tell me anything they want too so I will pay, pay, pay. I don't think it's fair for people that don't know much about cars and some dealers can take them for ride.

Well anyways, I need to get this fix, anyone got some good place that will not rip you off when you take your car in to get fixed?

The steering has an annoying rattle. We have had it to the dealer and they recommend replacing the steering shaft which runs from the steering wheel to the steering box. I asked if they had an upgraded part but there is none. This car only has 34000KM on it always pavement driven and it has this problem, why would I purchase another poorly manufactured part to replace it. Seems like the car companies experiment with poor parts that may save them a buck at the expense of their customers.

I just purchased this car about 2 weeks ago, The bill for the out of province inspection along with some minor repairs was $900. A few days after I got my car back it starting making the clunking noise. I wonder how much more money I will have to put into repairing my vehicle...

There was a clunking noise coming from under the front right of the vehicle while going over bumps and turning at low speeds. I had the car in for this problem about a year and a half ago, and they replaced the intermittent shaft(?), this time around they replaced the bushings on the front left and right, along with the whole steering column.... Seems ok, for now....
