The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac Torrent. The contact stated that the air bag warning light would illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic control unit in the seats needed to be reprogrammed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07V344000 (air bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac Torrent. The contact stated the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel whenever a passenger was seated in the front passenger seat. An authorized dealer as well as the manufacturer were notified and they informed the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 07V344000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage is 95,000. The consumer stated the passenger air bag failed to turn on when a small adult sat in the seat. The issue fit the description of a known recall. However, the vein was not included. Updated 07/20/11

The contact stated that the dealer previously reprogrammed the air bag sensor control module under NHTSA campaign id number: 07V344000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module) and the light remained illuminated following repairs. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact to replace the control module sensor at the contacts expense. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 74,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The current mileage is 64,888.

The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure has occurred on several occasions. The dealer stated that the passenger side seat could be the cause of the failure. The seat was replaced; however, the failure continued. The dealer stated that her VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 07V344000 (air bags: Frontal: Sensor/control module). The contact felt that her vehicle should be included in the recall. The failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 18,500.
