We don't have a lot of complaints on file for the Porsche 996 (although feel free to add yours here) -- it's either not very popular ... or it's very, very good.
The 2001 Porsche 996 has the most complaints, & the most-reported problem is also with the 2001 996 for head gasket blown.

head gasket blown -- 2001 996:
The first sign was water coming out the exhaust (white smoke) followed by a low coolant warning light. Then found oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil. Had the engine checked and found out either a bad head gasket or cracked head. Either way about $15K for a new engine. Read more »
