As reported by the auto dealers service department, a seam on the top of the non-metallic fuel tank has separated and developed a leak.

Consumer stated the gas tank was 1/4 full, he then filled the tank, and shortly afterwards, he made a stop, and when he went to start the vehicle, the fuel gauge was reading emmpty, consumer then turned off the engine and restarted it, the indicator was still reading empty, as consumer drove the vehicle, the average fuel economy dropped from 32.8 to 31.9 mpg, at approximately 30 miles the dte feature restored and indicated 528 miles, at 64 miles the fuel gauge restored to service indicating full.
