2014 Outback with 120k miles. Gradual increasing of noisy whining to accelerate, struggles to shift gears. New CVT advised to the tune of $4,000 but it's the same technology (not improved/nothing changed) of what is presently in the car. To invest in the same technology that is failing seems foolish, esp at the high mileage.
