The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Aerio. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle increased acceleration. The vehicle failed to slow down after applying the brake pedal numerous times. The accelerator pedal remained in a stuck position. The contact shifted the gear into neutral in order to stop. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated the accelerator pedal was entrapped by the driver's side floor mat. The engine was completely damaged due to the opened throttle defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
