Airbag light came on in dashboard area. Indicator lights for pass airbag passenger seat and driver seat comes on and off intermittently. Told this is a problem within this car type and will occur costs of between 1000-1600.00 for repair. This indicator means I have inadequate airbag protection and a failure within the seat sensor. This is a safety concern and needs a recall from Suzuki.

My wife and I purchased this car used and as-is from a dealer. We had it just 3 days when I noticed the airbag malfunction light is on. Now I'm concerned that the air bags aren't functioning. This is a recurrent problem, and I'm sure many have gone unreported. Just on this site alone, airbag problems are a large percentage of the complaints made. When I count the problems and eliminate the duplicates, there are 44 actual problems listed. 33 of those problems are airbag problems, and 3 were accidents in which air bags didn't deploy. That means that 36/44 problems - 82% - involve airbags in some way. How many more have to be posted before this gets investigated and a recall forced or issued"?" counting this complaint, it's 37/45 with airbag problems.

The "passenger air bag light off" warning light came on while we were driving on a city street even thought a 170lb passenger was sitting in the passenger seat, wearing a seat belt. We were near the authorized Suzuki dealer in milford, ct where we bought the car a few weeks earlier, so I stopped in and informed the sales manager. He said to show the service dept. There was no one in service that had time to see the light on so I brought it in for service appt. They said there was no code when they scanned the car. We don't know if this problem is related to the static in the am radio when the headlights or AWD lock is turned on or when the gps or phone is plugged in but I am told this is not an electrical lemon. I rode in another SX4 and there was no static in the am radio. The next time the warning light came on, we took pictures and sent them to the finance rep. We also have a video of the light on and have since found complaints of this problem in the Suzuki forum. Perhaps its time for a recall before someone gets injured.

Passenger side seat airbag safety switch failed. This disables all airbags in the vehicle when this happens. It is not a fail safe design. If this switch fails, air bags should remain enabled. Car is not safe to drive. You can replace this seat switch for $1,400 dollars. Suzuki will not replace this switch even though it renders the vehicle unsafe to drive. Most customers do not realize they have no air bag protection. Suzuki is at great liability due to poor design. This needs to be a safety recall item. Many complaints are on file.

Passenger airbag lite stays on and the airbag indicator symbol on the speedometer remains on. We were told by the dealer that the air bags will not deploy with these indications. The problem was coded with a 10 driveability and said it would be $1100 for a new passenger seat cushion. This is clearly a safety issue and should be repaired by Suzuki. Failure at 40,000 miles is not acceptable.

I own a 2008 Suzuki SX4. A few times the passenger air bag warning light has turned on. The problem usually is solved by unlocking and refastening the passenger seat belt. More recently, (actually last week) the air bag warning light turned on and has stayed on ever since. This is not an intermittent problem like the passenger air bag warning. I have seen a lot of owners of these vehicles, (years 2007 to 2009) complaining in the net about this life-threatening problem. Most of them refer to the B1061 and /or B1312 codes and their vehicles are out of the warranty period already. This leads me to think that we are talking about a design or manufacturing flaw in these vehicles and should be properly addressed by a recall campaign by the manufacturer and/or its representatives in this country. I understand these codes and warning lights prevent the air bags from being deployed during an accident and the cost of replacing the seat with the sensor can run up to $2,000 per seat.

Airbag light came on and took to the dealership. The diagnostic code is B1312 - occupancy mat performance due to open in ocm. Basically there was a short in the airbag controller that is built into the passenger seat rendering all of the airbags non functional. Cost for replacement was quoted at $1500 for the part plus $300-$500 labor. This appears to be a very common problem with Suzuki if you look online yet there has been no recalls and it's not covered under warranty after 30,000 miles. So the repair cost could be up to $2000 for a part that is failing left and right on Suzuki owners rendering the complete airbag system worthless so basically two options, either pay the $2000 or drive a car that could be deadly in a crash. I can't believe that Suzuki corporation is ok with this?

I own a 2008 Suzuki sx-4 crossover. The airbag light came on and stayed on, so I took the vehicle to my Suzuki dealer to have the problem diagnosed. The dealer told me that the passenger seat cushion sensor was defective and the defect was no longer under warranty. The cost of replacement was estimated to be $1,125 for a new seat cushion and $250 for labor. The dealer did not know if this would affect the air bag in an accident. Due to the cost, I could not have the seat cushion replaced and the airbag light remains on. This seems to be a common problem with the sx-4. there is no way that the seat was damaged in normal use and is obviously a manufacturing defect. It seems that this is a serious safety problem and the car should be recalled for repair.

Brought vehicle to Suzuki dealer to have a check done as to why seat belt and airbag lights were staying on. They reported a code and said they would have to replace the passenger seat cushion at a cost of $1069! I could not believe what happened next the service manager informed me that there was a recall and were replacing screws in the outside mirrors to prevent falling off....but the seat cushion was not listed as a recall even though there have been other complaints. Since when are mirrors more important then airbags that are mandated in vehicles. Why hasn't Suzuki stepped up and declared a recall and also why hasn't the NHTSA demanded that they recall these vehicles. So screws for mirrors are more important than airbags...what is this world coming to.

The airbag light stays on constantly, I went to the Suzuki dealership and they said there were faulty airbag sensors in the seat and the entire seat would have to be replaced at my cost of approximately $2000, that the airbags would not work without the seat being replaced and not to drive the vehicle because it was a safety issue. I am a single mom, school teacher and bought the vehicle expecting reliable transportation. I have to drive it or loose my job and do not have $2000 to fix it. After I researched on the internet there are multiple complaints about this same issue. There needs to be a safety recall at the manufacturers expense.

Copied this from this site"the ECU also performs regular diagnostic checks of the air bag system. If the ECU identifies a problem, the air bag readiness (warning) light will illuminate on the instrument panel. When the air bag readiness light is illuminated, the air bag system might not perform properly in a crash." Part of the required safety features required on most new vehicles is what was stated. Corrected the mileage from previous complaint.... my 2008 Suzuki SX4 shows the air bag light on along with the passenger seat belt light on(even when occupied) according to the above statement "when the air bag readiness light is illuminated, the air bag system might not perform properly in a crash." So here I am. I followed up with a visit to Suzuki dealer and $45 later they told me exactly what was stated on sites code B1312 and that I need a new passenger seat cushion, that the sensor was not working. Then they hit me with a cost of $1009.82 + tax to replace a cushion...mind you a part that is mandated to be on vehicle and working. This is obscene and I refused then they offered to cut it in half $600 +...why do I have to pay anything for a obvious defect in their system as indicated by other entries on here and other sites pertaining to the same problem. Is everyone waiting for a major accident. Also they could not tell me if all was disabled, part disabled or none were disabled. Action is definitely needed by someone or some Agency to step in and address this problem.

I have an issue with the air bag sensor under the passenger seat of my 2008 Suzuki sx-4 sdn. The air bag light on the dash comes on and stays on, as well as the passenger seat belt light on the information display comes on and stays on. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they checked the code and found a code recorded for the airbag system. They could not determine what triggered the code however they said they reset the system and it should be fine. The same day the lights came back on so I took the vehicle back to the same dealer. This time they told me that the passenger side under seat assembly which contains the air bag sensor was bad and would need replaced at a cost of $2500 just for the part. I went on the internet and searched for similar problems and was surprised to find that there are many others with the same problem. The company has not agreed to do anything to alleviate the problem for me or the others that have had the same problem. I have also not been able to discern for sure whether the air bags will work as long as the vehicle has this problem. If not it is a definite safety problem and should require a recall to fix the problems or replace the defective parts. As I said this seems to be a very common problem with not only the 2008 Suzuki vehicles but also the 2007 model year Suzuki. I have basically been told that since the vehicle is out of warranty that I am out of luck, however I feel that if this is a defect that they are aware of and have not done anything about that they should be held responsible, especially if the problem is potentially endangering the operators of these vehicles.
