A few months ago, the 12V outlets stopped working in our 2009 Suzuki XL7. We replaced a blown fuse, but still had an issue and never got around to resolving the problem. Recently, the radio was dead (all other dash lights and instruments were working, but no radio display), so I let it sit for a day and used another car just in case something else stopped working. After 1.5 days of sitting, the battery was drained and wouldn't start, so we jump started it. Now the radio worked, but various instrument panel lights came on (ABS, Brake, AWD off), but these items should've been working OK... I know the brake was released. Attempted to start it again this morning, and no issues... all instrument lights and radio were working

OK. EXCEPT when driving it to the dealer, I noticed the "Avg Econ" value was reset to 0.... not an issue as the battery was drained. However, it wouldn't recalculate to anything above 5, so I checked the "Avg Speed" indication and it wouldn't go above 5 when I drove about 6 miles in 20 minutes, so there's still some strange things going on. It's now at the dealer and am waiting for diagnostics... hopefully, they won't soak me trying to resolve the issue. Oh - and I'd like to mention, we had to replace the transmission and timing chain at 63K miles (luckily, covered under 100K mile drive train warranty). I guess I need to file that problem under a separate complaint. Just too many things starting to go wrong with this vehicle... I think its about time to trade it in before it leaves me sitting in a snow storm or something.

Update from Feb 6, 2014: I believe the problem has been resolved. Since the engine had been removed a few weeks prior, I asked the dealer to be sure they check and clean all ground wiring connections. They assured me that they did and ran other tests on the charging system. It's been about two weeks and everything seems to be fine... and the dealer (York Auto Group) didn't even charge me a diagnostic charge... was pretty happy about that. It turned out that the 12V outlet problems were probably related to a bad phone charger which explains why the fuse blew a second time. It's working fine now also (and the dealer replaced the fuse again at no charge).
