Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

The piston(s) that hold the hatch up have failed, while the vehicle was stationary. Since the hatch can not stay up, I can not tell whether it is one or both. Luckily, this occurred while the hatch was being lifted and not afterwards with an individual under the hatch. After the failure, I have raised the hatch and the let it shut with its own weight. If someone was putting something into the back of the vehicle, there is no doubt that a serious injury would have occurred. My son, who has a 2012 model, indicated they had the same problem.

When the vehicle is started and the ac/heater fan runs there is a foul moldy smell coming thru the vents. Doing a search on the web I see that many people are complaining about the same musty/moldy problem. This has to be a health issue to say the least. As time goes on the odor is getting worse. Dealers only spray some deodorizing spray into the vents which lasts long enough for you to leave the dealership but that's not correcting the problem. Mold becomes a major issue when it comes to selling a home, so I believe it should also be the same in the confined spaces of a vehicle. Spending $36,000 on a vehicle that smells like a gym locker is unacceptable.
