I purchased a brand new 2016 4Runner from Haltermans Toyota East Stroudsburg PA with black rock slider running boards already installed by the dealer in February of 2017. They started to rust and was reported to the dealer. They said they would get back to me. Every time I went for maintenance, I reminded them of the rust. A year later they said it's not a Toyota part and they would not replace them, but they put the part on the vehicle before I purchased the truck. When I bought it I did not think I needed to ask if this a Toyota part. I complained to Toyota North America. They said they can't help me because its not a Toyota part and to take it up with the dealer. These parts are rusting away and I need help as I am getting no satisfaction. I purchased all my vehicles from Haltermans dealer. I'm shocked to be refused a legitimate complaint.
Update from Mar 12, 2019: Dealer came thru and is replacing running boards(rock sliders),very happy
