CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good” but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.

Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal” for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

On my way to work and another driver just rammed his struck against my car his tired ended up on top of my car it was a hard hit and I even thought I had my seat belt I my airbags did it go off at all the impact was so hard and I would like to know why didn't my airbags deployed my question is do I have any airbags that really concerned me and would like Toyota to look at my car as soon as possible in my opinion my airbags should have went off I was hit by a bigger veichle and I would like Toyota to take reposability since I had witness that saw the accident and testified that I was not at fault if there is no airbags in my car it's new to me because when I went to buy the car the only thing high was the mage and I was promise that if anything went wrong with the car Toyota will be responsible for it. I think that Toyota took advantage and was trying to get rid of the car so I got the wrong end of the deal. If I find out I never had any air bag si should no be reponsie le to pay a die out of my pocket.

The dashboard ABS and brake lights came on, speedometer dropped to zero, and the tachometer jumped while on the freeway. The first reaction when seeing the brake light on was to reach for the emergency brake release and on the vehicle the release is the step type. This release is the hood release and luckily the safety on the hood did not allow the hood to open. I've reported this to Toyota when I got a recall for replacement of the dash if it cracked. They told me they hadn't heard this, and I told them to go to the internet as it was there and there were youtube videos showing this condition.

My 2009 Camry dashboard is melting. The leather console between seats has cracked.the electrical system keeps shorting out. All cigarette lighters/charger locations have shorted out including the aux. A week after buying my car the safety feature to lock place mat in place broke. Nearly causing a car wreck as the place mat lodged in between the gas and brake. The radio, location where speedometer, clock, and service lights locations are fogged up and getting worse daily. When I took my car to the dealership about the dashboard I was told, "it was my fault. Probably caused by a cleaning product." Which I knew was entirely not true. Cigarette lighter covers have dry rot and broken, plastic/leather has dry rot under all 4 windows leaving scratch looking marks, dry rot paint by stick shift is peeling. Headlights fog up easily with water in them. I was in a car wreck a couple of years ago.when I was going about 10 mph and a vehicle ran the red light hitting the right side of vehicles front area. They were going at least 45 mph. No airbag deployed. Underneath front of car is a plastic piece that keeps falling down. Some days I am unable to take car out of park unless I turn the wheel, "hard". I have never received anything via mail about any recalls on my vehicle. I still live at the same address! took car to dealer again about front passenger window and driver side window not being able to roll down or up windows. I had to pay quite a bit of money to have fixed. Passenger window switch is broken and still is just like drivers side was. Was told" it was most likely because someone tried to break into my car." Which I knew was not the case. I am very disgusted and considering filing a lawsuit against Toyota. I bought a lemon car! I keep my oil changes up to date, fluids, filters, etc.I have never felt so disappointed in a vehicle purchase in my life. I'd like a full refund.

Upon purchasing this car in/2013 we immediately had trouble with the 12 V cigarette lighters. Plugging in the standard items like a cell phone or gps will only get us about 20 minutes at brst, before blowing the fuses. It doesn't matter which power point we use, it happens in each if them. The place we bought the car examined the situation three times and couldn't decipher the problem. A Toyota dealership would charge over $100 just for a diagnostic check. Due to this problem we don't feel safe traveling far with the vehicle, being unable to charge cell hone, gps, or safety cameras. The car is otherwise very reliable, but for a battery which suddenly died on us one very cold night. We were surprised it didn't dive a warning that it might need replacing soon. As for the electrical problem, we were told we may be able to purchase an alternative external system to compensate for the cigarette lighters, from a place like best buy.

While driving or when parked, all dashboard gauges (engine temp, speedometer, etc.) drop to 0. at the same time, the "brake" and the "ABS" lights illuminate. The indicator for park/drive/reverse is no longer illuminated, and the outside temperature indicator flashes between "E" and the correct temperature. In addition, the A/C fails to cool, despite all lights/indicators on the console appearing normal (no flashing lights to indicate a malfunction.) all above issues will randomly occur - no obvious correlation to braking, acceleration, etc. At times, some of the gauges will normalize, while others remain at "0." in addition, some gauges will fluctuate sporadically, or "bounce" up/down - not indicating true engine temp or speed. The problems will all resolve at times, seemingly randomly, and then reoccur - just as randomly. I have found numerous videos on youtube which document this issue, and I have noted numerous complaints on this website describing the same problem. After several weeks (on 11/14/14), I took my car to the local dealership, describing the issues and suggesting the brake actuator had failed (as I had read from other owner complaints.) the local dealership stated that they had seen several other vehicles with similar issues, but was confused about the involvement of the A/C issue. (please note: I live in a city with a population of less than 250,000.) after several days of diagnostics, the local dealership contacted a Toyota specialist in houston, tx, who confirmed that the brake actuator had failed. I paid $1932.23 for parts and labor (that's including a 10% discount) to have the issue repaired. My vehicle was with the dealership for 11 days before it was finally repaired. I am concerned that so many people seem to have had the same problem, and that a recall has not been issued for a condition affecting multiple safety features of the vehicle.

Moved to tx in 2012 and have not had any previous starting issues before moving. Attempted to start the vehicle during my lunch break, engine turned over but was unable to start. Attempted to start the car again and the engine cranked and started with a hard "jolt" as if the gear shift was out of position. Several days later the temperature was warmer and the same problem occurred. Scheduled a appointment with my local Toyota dealership and was told all systems were normal and they could not determine the cause of the problem since they could not replicate starting issue. The starting issue occurs on relatively hot days, turning the key to "on" before starting does not help the problem, the second start attempt is usually a "hard" start such that it feels as if the engine is jerking. Toyota should investigate electrical/fuel/and air components to determine the cause of this starting problem, especially since the issues seems to be temperature related.
