Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good” but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.

Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal” for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

The issue may be the result of defective piston rings and is the possible target of a class-action lawsuit.

On 11 26 2012 I was approaching an intersection on a green light going approximately 35 mph when I collided with a truck which was traveling at a high rate of speed against a red light through the same intersection. The impact totaled my vehicle. Witnesses at the scene estimated the other drivers speed at approximately 50 mph. The airbags in my 2009 Camry did not deploy. I sustained a concussion and spinal injuries. If the air bags had deployed I am convinced that I might have sustained fewer injuries.

I was involved in a wreck where I was traveling roughly 5 miles per hour. The airbags did not deploy. It was a front side impact and my car was totaled. Bent the frame, crunched the front part of the body (hood and side walls), blew the transmission, radiator, ac system, and much more. I still have pictures of the accident of my vehicle. Because of the impact on the car I got slammed into the steering wheel and dashboard. I have permanent knee damage that could not get repaired due to lack of insurance because I'm a student.

My wife was T-boned this week at a 4-way stop (flashing red light) at approximately 40mph while driving my 2009 Camry hb with side curtain and seat-mounted side air bags. This vehicle has seven airbags including driver front air bag, front seat-mounted driver side air bag, and driver side curtain air bag. She was wearing her seatbelt. No bags deployed! it appears her head went through the driver's side window. She was in icu with concussion, bleeding on the brain and brain swelling. Driver?S door was pushed in about 6 inches from the impact. I bought this car for the safety of the seven airbags. All maintenance on this low mileage vehicle was done at the local Toyota dealer.

On August 31, 2010, occurred an car accident in mayaguez, puerto rico. The vehicle was declared total loss by the insurance company. None of the air bags deployed. The Toyota Camry 2009 impacts straight to a concrete fence approximate 65-44 mph five seconds before the impact. In several occasion, I tried to reach Toyota of pr to require that inspect my vehicle because none of the air bags deployed. Finally, on Oct 2010 they inspected the vehicle and the insurance company pick up the vehicle but I retain the computer of the vehicle. On Dec. 23, Toyota of pr wrote me a letter, in which inform that the air bags didn't deployed because the vehicle impacts to a post that is a flexible barrier approximate 13.2 mph. I'm totally disagree with the Toyota inform because the vehicle impact to a reinforced concrete fence and the insurance company declared total loss the vehicle. Toyota didn't correct the failure.

While stopped at a light, we were struck on the driver's side of car by another vehicle at the side and front door with enough force to rotate the vehicle 90 degrees, push it over a high curb and to cause nearly $15,000 in damage to body and chassis. The operation of the side seat airbags on the Toyota Camry are compromised due to the fact that the integrity of the seat cushion has a design flaw that causes the cushion to collapses around the airbag. Which would change the angle of the airbag and cause it not to deploy properly.

Within a few weeks, the rear power windows began opening on their own. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph when the brakes were engaged; however, the vehicle would not stop which caused her to crash into a vehicle in front of her. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a body shop who advised the contact that there was also an electrical failure since the vehicle would start. The repair shop made several attempts to start the vehicle and was unsuccessful. The manufacturer advised her that the recall repair will start in April and that she would have to wait until then. My 2007 Toyota Camry le was rear-ended at around 40-50 miles per hour and it was pushed into the car in front of me. So I was struck from the back and then the front. The other two cars' airbags deployed but mine did not. I notice there are front and side tests done on cars but never when one is rear-ended. I went to the emergency room with a headache and stiffness in my neck and was diagnosed with whiplash - head and back. Everyone I've mentioned this to wondered why my airbags did not deploy. Can you tell me if it should have" fortunately my seatbelt worked and restrained me and I did not bump my head on anything other than the headrest. Just wondering if I should be concerned that my airbag did not deploy. Oh, and my just-paid off Camry was totaled -- over $12,000 in damages so I have to buy another car and wondering if I should consider another vehicle. I feel fortunate that I was able to walk away from the incident though there is no more "truck" so to speak left on my car. I'd like to get another Camry but need to know if the lack of airbag deployment is important to consider when buying another car. Also, I have been hearing that the floor mat recall on the Toyota from 2007 -2010 is not really a floor mat issue but an electrical one that Toyota is not telling us about. What do you know about this"
