I bought a 2004 Toyota Corolla CE in July 2004 and today the engine light came on and stayed on.
My girlfriend has a 2002 Toyota Corolla and she told me (after I bought mine) that her engine light started coming on for no discernable reason a few months after purchase. The dealer charged her for a part and labor on her new car to fix the engine light problem.
This is obviously a problem the dealers and manufacturers know about why don't they just fix it.
