Engine light came on while idling. No change to car function or sound. Went to auto parts store and got car scanned for free with OBDII scanner tool. Scanner reported "System too lean" meaning something with gas to air ratio. Auto Parts guy recommend fuel additive to clean lines and stabilize fuel, costing 7$. There was a free printout of the scan which listed possible causes including one of many sensors malfunctioning or intake manifold and it's gasket. Light went off after scan. 36k miles on car. Light came on day after oil change and check up from dealership. My battery failed also one day after a complete check up. A metal plate under gas tank came loose one day after oil change. Translation: crappy work from dealership. Probably bumped some sensor in there...also had water pump break 1 year after purchase and needed new engine chip. Toyota and it's affiliates suck.

Corolla CE 16 valve

i bought my car brand new off the dealership. Paid cash the full amount from a settlement. Toyota Corolla CE 2006. My first problem was the windshield needed to be remounting due to leaking. So it got remounted 3 times all together over the course of a few months. Then a year later. my car just dies while driving it and the dealership got it taken there. They said it needed a brand new Computer put in it. that it was my problem. Only $5,000.00 to install a new one. 3 months to get it and put it in. i get my car back and then 3 months later it just dies again the same style. i got it home and it was one fuse that was causing problems. My engine light has been on for more time than not. Before the dealership got it in and when i drove away from the dealership after they fixed it.

$21,388.00 it costed me to buy my car and fix the problem that i should not of had to. i was told the problem was from me putting in accessories and then when they fixed it there was no accessories, not even the stock radio in my car and it did it again.

Corolla LE 1.8L

when i started my vehicle up it would just idle up as if my foot would be on the gas pedal at the same time. if i had a full tank of gas it would bring it down so low until you would not have known it was full when started . in 2 days a full tank would be gone it got 2 be very expensive. some days the check engine light would come on & go back off the same day ,while burning lots of gas at the same time . it was offer starting the vehicle at any time because of the idling & waste of gas

It is too dangerous since the engine could stop working at any time. We were lucky not happened on the highway. It is not a single case. I am wondering why nobody did warn the owners....

The car, mainly when the engine was cold or it was damp out, would miss. Then the check engine light would come on.Took it to my mechanic and he checked the code of the failure, on the computer. It registered an electrical problem, on cylinder 3.Checked the coil , the plugs, the power through the wiring harness to the ECU.It showed no faults at all. This problem really stumped them.It took a week but,the shop where I get my car repaired, is extremely good. There was a kinked wire, inside the wiring harness, that over time almost broke in half. This was the wire that came from the coil, on cylinder 3.The problem was probably started right from when the car was made at the factory. When the wiring harness was made, before the insulation cover was installed and put into the car, the wire was kinked. When it failed, there was still threads of wire attached,so a power fault was not detected but it would cause the cylinder to misfire. The break in the wire was between the engine and where it goes through the fire wall. Because this is the spot where there is a lot of movement of the wire from the flex of the engine, when it is running and the fixed position of the spot ,where it goes through the fire wall, even though there is a bracket in between, there is still a movement. This probably has never happened before or the chance of it happening again, is 1 in a million.Thought everyone should know about this.

Corolla S 1.8L L4 FI DOHC 16V

I bought this car about 1year ago brand new 0 miles on it paid almost $19,000. About 3 weeks ago i started noticing that every time i switched gears from parking to reverse and from reverse to drive there will be a little hopping also every time i drove past 10mph the same hopping occurred. I did not pay much attention to this until about a week and a half ago the check engine came on i then new that there was something wrong with the car. I took it in to the Toyota dealer (Atlantic Toyota in Lynn MA to be more specific) They checked my car and said that i needed to put in a new ECU (computer). I was shocked a brand new car and it already needs a new computer. The Dealer told me not to worry that they will order the part and will call me as soon as they have it. I week passed by and they never called me so i decided to call them to check if the part had arrived. I spoked to the manager there and he said that he will check and call me back. I NEVER got a call from him so i called back the next day. When i talked to him all he said was "oh i forgot to call you" then he put me on hold for about 5 minutes. He came back on the phone and told me my part will take another week to arrive. I told him that my inspection sticker was going to expire and that i needed to get this fix so i can get a new one he told me would not be able to do anything about it the only thing he can do was give me an 800 number so i can call the corp. office. When i called the corp. office i spoke to a customer service rep. she told me that she can put in a complaint and will have their manager give me a call to see what they can do. Then i got a call from the manager but he was an jerk he told me that the only thing he can do was put a rush on the part. i told him I was a 22yr old women who drives 20 miles on the highway to work everyday and i did not feel safe driving that car. His response is "well there's nothing else i can do" I demanded that i wanted a rental and he said that they could not give me a rental it was a company policy. I was very disappointed with their customer service. Everyone always told me "Toyota are very dependable cars" but after my experience i don't recommend anyone to buy a Toyota.
