Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

1. received a letter from Toyota indicating that a safety defect exists in my engine control module (ECM) for my 2006 Toyota Corolla. I took my car to springfield Toyota on 2/22/2011. They replaced the ECM and now the service engine light is on. They told me that in order to turn the service engine light off, it will require additional diagnosis and that I would have to pay $300 to $400. The dealership left the ECM disconnected and service engine light is on all the time. 2. the service light is on all the time. This may be a safety issue. 3. dealership does not want to fix the problem unless I pay them for the diagnosis time. With the old ect I did not have any problems with the car. I took my car to the dealership to have the ECM replaced based on the letter from Toyota. Dealership kept the old ECM and refused to give it back to me nor fix the problem.

I am asking for an investigation being done for my vehicle which was about to killed me on Wednesday January 26th 2011. I was coming home from work around 11:30 pm and my Toyota Corolla made a spin round two times and was about to turn over before the engine seized. And ten minutes before that my car run through the red light on rockaway turnpike, I called up Toyota and made an complaint. They told me someone is going to get in contact with me within three business day but no one did not. I also called Toyota a few ago about the same issue, but they stated that my car in not in the recalled. I have a 2006 Corolla. Most of the time when ever I try to step my feet on the brakes its like some thing is hold the brake from going down. I would be very grateful if someone could please help me as soon as possible or else I will die in that car.

My car was brought to a local reapir shop who told us it was a computer failure and we had to take it to Toyota.called Toyota said they were unaware of the problem but we should have car towed and they wold look at it next day we were told the ECM had to be replaced but was under warranty.will pick up car today. 2006 Toyota Corolla with 36900 miles. Complete engine shutdown while in traffic at an intersection with inability to restart engine. Car was towed to dealer. They reported electronic control unit failure was the cause. Car still under warranty. Dealer reported part on backorder. Resulted in tow charge and car rental expense. Car would not be provided until 3 days later by dealer.
