airbags did not deploy in accident airbags did not deploy in accident

Minor collision in rear, no airbags deployed, but over $10,000 in damages (at 2011 prices). Rear hatch area (floor) folded up like an accordion, it didn't take much of an accident to cause this much in damage costs. The car held it's value though, I'm walking away with $9400.00 (plus expenses) from an eight year old car that I paid $18,000.00 for in 2003. Thats still better than 50% after 8 years!!!!!! I'm glad collision wasn't worse though, would car have been my casket??? Search salvage cars for sale to see cars with damages. What happened to new cars being built to last and like a rock??? New cars are bumped, the plastic is broken and costs are too much to fix. The cars not worth fixing, so now it's totaled--throw it away and get another plastic car....isn't it supposed to be cheaper to repair than to replace??????
