My air bag light and my check engine light came on and would not go out. A balise Toyota technician, West springfield, MA, diagnosed the problem as a faulty spiral coil assemby. Balise's assistant service manager, karl subklew, stated this was a safety issue. I contacted/notified Toyota; Toyota has recalled other Toyota makes and models for this safety issue, but refused to apply the recall to my 2005 Toyota Corolla matrix. They told me to notify my attorney general. The cost was significant to me to have the spiral coil replaced on 7/18/14. This Toyota defect in matrix and Pontiac vibe models needs to be investigated and included in the Toyota recall for this issue. I also feel Toyota should fully reimburse me for my cost to have this faulty safety item replaced.

Toyota Matrix 2005 model purchased on Oct 2004 and exported to Canada on Feb 2009, about 42K miles. ECM problem. While the car is in motion, the engine check light turned on and kept on after then. The car "jerks" from time to time while moving. Sent to dealer, diagnosed as ECM problem, which is a manufacture defect.
