My car (2010 Toyota Prius) briefly accelerates when I hit a small bump. It feels like it is in the ABS system. I called my dealer shortly after I purchased the car and they said they have had no complaints of this nature. I went on a Prius chat forum and there were many with the same complaint.

We have the same braking problem with our 2010 Prius as described recently in newspapers. There seems to be a momentarily lapse of braking power when going over slippery or bumpy surfaces. It has happened numerous times in the past few months (well over 25 times).

When I apply the brakes on this vehicle on a bumpy road the brakes either pause for a second to apply or the antilock systems seems to engage and dis-engage causing a serious distraction while braking. This occurs daily as the area I live in is mainly brick paved streets.

My wife experienced braking anomalies immediately after beginning to drive her new 2010 Prius. I attributed these to the way the car drives and I haven't noticed anything the few times I have driven it. But this is something she has been reporting since she first began driving it (6 months) and she is a perceptive person (M.D.). with discussions of whether to recall I figured I should report the problem.

I purchased a 2010 Toyota Prius in October 2009. I had two incidences with the brakes that were similar to what has been reported in the papers. The first was within the first six weeks of owning the car. I was slowing down to enter a gas station and the car accelerated. I had been applying the brakes already, but the acceleration took me by surprise. I applies the brakes more forcefully and the car slowed. The second time I was on my way to the dealer for a get to know you with the maintenance dept. I was descending a hill with the brakes being applied. Again the car sped up and I braked more forcefully and it slowed. It was scary. My husband said this happened once when he drove the car, but he did not remember the details. When we told the dealer, they said they were not aware of any issues with the 2010 Prius accelerating or braking, but that they would look at the car. Of course, this happened three times over three months. They didn't find anything wrong with the car. Someone else at the meeting suggesting issues with the programming, but we were just meeting with the head of the repair department. They only know what Toyota is telling them. Now I see in the paper that Toyota corrected the issue in their new Prius. So they knew about this and didn't tell us. This is the first and last time I will buy a Toyota.

We own a 2010 Prius purchased Oct 2009 and are experiencing the same problems described in the press for the brake failure problem car jumps, or brakes slightly unresponsive, temporarily loss of brake power. Problem happens at slow speeds but seems intermittent. No action has been taken, Toyota not yet contacted.

I own a 2010 Prius, that I purchased September, 2009. In December I was driving in town, and came to a stop. When I came to the stop sign, I put my brakes on and hit a pot hole at the same time. It felt as though the car jerked forward and it was a second where I felt there was no brake.

I have brake problems with my 2010 Prius. Now that I see it's in the news I realize I'm not the only one. The Prius has issues when I'm braking and I go over any type of a bump in the road, or I go over a pothole cover. Really there is a braking problem when I am braking and the car is driving over different road surfaces, or there is bad weather. The car lurches forward- almost feels like it's skipping a beat. It makes my heart jump, similar to a jolt. I feel every time that I will get into an accident, but I haven't yet... thankfully. This is a problem with the car and needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies, or gets seriously injured. This happens on average about 1-2 times a week. I drive approx 150 miles a week.

Bought 2010 Toyota Prius in Nov 2009. Over 20 times since I bought the car, I have experienced split-second loss in braking power with my hybrid car when driving over bumpy or slippery roads. This happened again yesterday. Anxiously await a recall / repair.

We purchased a 2010 Prius in August of 2009 and have had the following recurring issues: 1. loss of braking when slowing down over rough or uneven pavement, gravel, wet leaves, snow, ice, cracked pavement, pot holes... the brakes engage for a second, and then we experience no braking at all for number of seconds. We took our Prius into jon lancaster Toyota in madison, wi where we purchased the vehicle and told the mechanic of the braking issues we were experiencing. He checked out the vehicle and said he could not find any issues with the braking system and said that he had never heard of this problem and neither had Toyota. This lack of braking resulted in a rear end collision in December 2009. My husband was driving at very low speed in town one evening and this lack of braking issue occurred and he slid into another vehicle. My husband pumped the brakes four times and each time this delay in braking occurred. There was no braking happening at all. The car was slowing down faster when the brakes were not applied, than when the brakes were applied. There was fresh snow on the road. There was a dane county sheriff at the intersection and my husband and the person he hit ran the incident by the state patrol who agreed that it was appropriate for the two parties involved in the accident to exchange insurance and contact information and leave the scene without calling the local police. There was damage to our Prius front bumper, and to the back bumper of the other vehicle. 2. occasionally when starting up the Prius, the brake feels hard and can't be depressed all the way. If we try to drive the vehicle, the brakes grab and jerk the car violently. The only solutions seems to be to turn the car off and restart the car.

I currently own a 2010 Toyota Prius and over the past few month I've noticed a momentary loss in my braking when turning corners or coming to a stop. I'm alittle concern that this might be a degenerative issue that may cause a serious accident at high speeds.

I am the owner of a 2010 Toyota Prius, since July 2009. I have had several (approx 5) incidences of odd behavior with my brakes. It has happened each time when I go over a bumpy surface and apply the brake pedal. The car seems to lunge forward for an instant and then maintains. Several weeks back this happened and when I researched this on the net I found many others had this same experience. With the recent events, I felt it necessary to make this report.

I purchased a 2010 Toyota Prius in November 2009. About 10 times since then, I've felt the sensation of 'going airborne' when braking on a speed bump or uneven pavement. The sensation is momentary, and the brakes have always 'recovered'. there was only one time when I thought that an accident might happen, when I needed to brake suddenly behind another car.

This is to report that my Prius 2010 car has experienced the delayed brake problem. I find this happens when I am driving over a certain road that has some small bumps. I am going around 20 or less stopping for a stop light and I get a very slight delay in braking, less than 1 second I think. I have never had any trouble stopping in the required distance before the stop light, it just gets your attention and needs correcting by Toyota.

2010 Prius II with 2070 miles. Purchased 8/2009. When going over a bump while stepping on the brake the car seems to act as if there is no brake on the downside of the bump. It feels like a slight acceleration then the brake engages.. this has occurred at least 4 times, but does not happen in every instant of a similar situation.
