After a lifelong search for the ideal vehicle I purchased my 2002 Toyota Sequoia. It's still my ideal vehicle; however, on 10 July of this year the spare tire mount rusted to the point that the spare dropped to the road.
I had the local Toyota service department look at it and they said that there is a hole in the frame and that the vehicle will not pass inspection. I am still working with my service rep to find out if they can replace the frame. My belief is that the money I will spend to do that is much less than I would have to pay if I have to buy a vehicle with no trade-in.
I called Toyota USA and they called back and said that the campaign to address frame rust has expired, so no help there.
I'm 70 years old and I was hoping that this was the last vehicle I would ever have to buy...
