*Both* driver seat and back heaters busted at the same time on our 2004 Sienna. According to a Toyota Service Assistant Manager this is uncommon.

The heaters might have become inoperable at tail end of warranty period and therefore fixed for free. However,I would not have known because I don't use the seat heater in the Spring, Summer or Fall.
The seat heater worked at the end of one winter, but not at the start of the next winter. In the meantime, the warranty expired.
Sadly, this didn't matter to Toyota Canada despite my two letters and visit to one dealer, looking for goodwill. Because of the fuzzy time of the breakdown of seat heaters, Toyota, or a dealer could have made us happy offering to split the cost of repair--would have been reasonable, right?

This is the third Toyota my husband and I bought and will be our last.

In my first letter I told Toyota Canada my husband and I are currently saving to replace our 1993 Tercel this Summer and that the cost of fixing seat heaters (~$1650) in Sienna would set us back in our savings schedule for the new car. Goodwill on the part of Toyota would have sent us to the Toyota dealer first for replacement of Tercel in 2008.

It seems Toyota Canada did not care to influence our decision on the next car we buy. Shouldn't that anger its dealers?

Wearing the long winter coat I already own is cheaper than the repair so for now the driver's seat heaters remain inoperable. And to replace the Tercel...We've our eye on another company's compact car now.
