My wife had been telling me for months that the navigation system on this van was selecting strange routes. My response to her was that in a city, there are dozens of routes. When we took a road trip to the beach, the GPS took us on a route that was nearly five hours. At first, I didn't think about it because we were in traffic. When we programmed the return, we noticed the estimated travel time was 5 1/2 hours and that just seemed "wrong." I pulled out my iPhone and used Google maps and Mapquest. Both offered routing that was more than 90-minutes shorter! We monitored the Toyota GPS but followed the cellphone directions provided by Mapquest. The Toyota GPS did not synch with the Toyota GPS until we were 20-minutes away from our home! We can't trust this GPS. It's not a matter of a map update on the van, because the roads we traveled are OLD. One reason we spent thousands of dollars more for this van was to have a built in GPS. We are very disappointed. We are going to have to get buy a car charger for the iPhone and increase our data plan!
Speaking of that-- does anybody know how much cell data mapquest (or the other direction providers use) with turn by turn direction?
