Tacoma PreRunner 3.4L V6

Intermittent loss of power. Pumping the gas pedal seems to help power to reengage. Sometimes the transmission slams back into gear when the power reengages. Mechanic thinks it's a Throttle Body issue, but no codes come up, even in the highly sensitive diagnostic mode.

Problem has happened several times now:

1st time treated the issue like it was a fuel injector issue and used over the counter gas treatment additives, which seemed to work, but maybe it was just coincidence.

2nd time it happened, I noticed that I let my gas go down to almost empty and again treated it like a fuel injector clog thinking that I picked sediment/particles up off the bottom of my tank. Again it seemed to work, but could of been coincidence that the problem comes and goes.

This last time, again I accidentally let my gas level go down to empty and it started again. BTW, this same type of intermittent loss of power happened with my motorcycle when I used Shell gas so I've been thinking all along that it also could of been bad gas, thus the gas/fuel injector treatments. I've primarily used ARCO gas in my truck.

I'll update this after I bring back it back to my mechanic next week.

This is a well known problem with '03 and '04 Toyota tacoma's TPS/THROTTLE BODY. You lose throttle response just like you took your foot off the accelerator. Then you have to work the accelerator to try to get it back. It has happened when pulling out in traffic and almost got me hit! It has happened on the interstate and I had to work my way over to get out of the way of traffic.....now it happens every time I drive it! You cannot buy a new TPS. Toyotas "fix" is to sell you a new throttle body for $1400...which doesn't include labor charges! This is unacceptable. This is a safety hazard and should be recalled.
