Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Tacoma 4WD 6-cyl

  • 51,000 miles

Driving my Toyota Tacoma, I was approaching a steep decline. I tapped on the brakes and continued driving at approximately 27 mph when I down shifted to accommodate for the snowy road. As I was down shifting the truck lost control and slid sideways causing the front passenger side to hit a snow bank. Once the truck struck the snow bank it flipped over on its driver side. The side air bags on both sides came out but did not inflate. The driver side bags were torn. I found evidence of this with shredded pieces of the air bag found in the vehicle. Additionally the driver side front air bags never deployed..updated 03-02/15.....updated 03-11-15

Tacoma 4-cyl

  • 11,201 miles
I was approaching a stoplight at a downward angle and while applying the brake the vehicle began to shake violently. I was going approx. 15pmh when it started and it didn't stop shaking until I got down to about 5 miles per hour. I took it to the dealership that day and explained the problem to them. They got the vehicle to reproduce the vibrations and I have paperwork stating this. It has been a full year later and they haven't repaired it yet. They continually tell me parts are being designed. Just wait. That's all they keep saying. I found out that they made a fix for the V6 model within 7 months, but they didn't have enough complaints against the 4 cylinder model to warrant redesigning parts. I was told this by the service tech at the dealership.
