Drivers-side back window failed after being let down. Will not return to closed position. Sounded like it was trying at first, but now no sound. Same problem on other side about 18 months ago. An expensive fix that VW said was due to a faulty part that became brittle after some time. I have an eos that VW has put a recall on the same part upon failure. Not sure why there's not one for the Beetle.

Rear quarter windows on new Beetle convertible (nbc): Failure to properly raise/lower, grinding noise from inside panel behind speakers, disassembly found broken cable retainer component, component made of cheap plastic, known problem among nbc owners, $600+ repair for each side, simple correction would be to make this component out of aircraft grade aluminum, both sides have failed on my daughter's car------------ lighting: Frequent replacement of headlight low beam bulbs (driver's and passenger's side), consistently failing, have replaced five bulbs in last 1.5 years, no fault codes thrown, mechanic hypothesized it may be due to a voltage surge, problem not associated with touching the bulb (causing them to fail due to oils on fingers) as I use nitrile gloves when handling and installing the bulbs.

Rear passenger window stuck down in 2005 new Beetle convertible - there is apparently a nationwide backorder on this rear window regulator of at least 2 months which means this is a major problem affecting many VW drivers and VW should clearly have a recall - leaving my car with a window open is not at all ideal and I will have to carefully plan out where I park the car until the part is located and installed.

I have a 2005 new Beetle convertible with $40,000 miles. The rear window regulator is broken. The window is up, but I can't use the convertible top because I'm not sure if the window will operate properly. Also the driver's side window does not operate properly with the keyless entry. I have not priced a repair yet. The nearest dealership is 100 miles away.

My 2005 Volkswagen new Beetle has the same bad window regulators as the rest of the recalled ones. The airbag light is also on without any wrecks to my auto VIN # [xxx]. I've reported it twice to stevens Volkswagen of wichita, ks and once to Volkswagen of America reference number: 810010103. I have not received any answer from Volkswagen of America. The only reply I got from stevens Volkswagen of wichita, ks is that they will charge me $130 just to decide if I'm covered under the window regulator recalls and or the airbag light malfunctions.

On my 2005 VW Beetle the left side back window fell off of it's tracks. Even though there were no injuries this could have startled my wife and perhaps caused an accident. There are numerous complaints on many VW models going back to 1995, yet when I called their VW of America number to see if there is a recall for this defect they acted like mine was the only one!!!! I then did a google search and discovered vwofamerica is nonresponsive to many complaints. Ei; ODI number: 10282664. Can you help??!!!!

Purchased 2005 VW Beetle with 7,300 miles assured full warranty....guaranteed paint on front bumper would be corrected...did it twice still peeling off....electric windows repaired twice....began making noises when weather was damp...took it to be checked out and was assured it would not always happen but normal...told them transmission seemed to be slipping....one headlight had a short, and then recall on brakelight...they did repair that...but informed me that was all they had time to do that do due to recall...gas cap cover was sticking as well...didn't fix it either....then my air bag light came on...took it in for recall on that...after it was supposedly fixed airbag light did not go off, insisted it had nothing to do with sensor that was recalled...noise in front end began and floorboard flooded during heavy rain....with no obvious entry point....did search for problems with VW Beetles and there are thousands having the very same problems I have been experiencing....now heat gauge light comes off and on, alarm randomly sounds.....but noise in front end concerns me greatly...would not even diagnose car without $98 bucks an hour labor charge to find problems.... this car only has 34,952 miles on it and it is falling apart...no way can all these problems be fixed and me make payments....but thousands are having these very same problems...why has our government not insisted on a recall.....
