Whenever the windscreen wipers moved back and forth, there was a metallic "pinging" noise, clearly heard within the car.
Dealer told us they lubed the springs, but the problem came back.
Dealer then told us "it's probably because of the cold wet weather" (IS THIS NOT WHAT WINDOW WIPERS ARE FOR?!?!)
Dealer then replaced whole wiper assembly, and fixed the problem.
