problem began after a couple of months from the time i purchased it. i could drive it for a few days then started acting up again. i figured trans fluid was low so i had that checked to find out that it is a lifetime fluid and very rare to be low. so i researched my problems on the net and talked to a few different people to find out the valve body is an ongoing problem with these years and type of trans, so needless to say its not a cheap fix. so my silver beauty has been a part of my landscaping in the yard....vw needs to get it together!!!!!!

Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8L 4 Cyc

  • Manual transmission
  • 119,000 miles

Car won't shift into first gear, will shift fine into the rest of the gears, have to take off from 2nd gear. Just replaced the engine in it last year but have not had any work done to the transmission or clutch.
