2010 Jetta, manual transmission Key gets stuck in ignition and wont cut car off. Eventually got key out, ignition locked wont let key turn car on. This is a known vw issue with over 860 complaints on this exact issue between 2009-2013. VW refuses to do recall, even though this is a manufacturing parts issue.

Abs and stability control became inoperative at around 50mph. It's a 55mph road thats heavily trafficked since its near a port. I had to stop the car on the side of the road since we almost crashed into an 18 wheeler. Fortunately we were close to home I drove the car at a reasonable speed just to get home. After that incident we have stopped using this vehicle since it gets even more dangerous every time, especially when it rains. Since then brake light has come on and hydraulic and suspension has been bad. This happened last year when pandemic was still full force and without a vehicle. Had to save and buy a more reliable vehicle for our own safety. I know this is a really good car but i really hope y-€™all can help me fix this since it-€™s really not the consumer-€™s fault. I-€™ve checked there is a recall for this but my -€œJetta-€ is not in those vehicles that were recalled. I really cant drive the vehicle therefore i have no use for it. Please let me know if something could be done since i wouldn-€™t like to pay out of pocket for something that could be done by the manufacturer and even save our and others life-€™s in the future when more vehicle owners come forward. Thank you for your time.

2010 VW Jetta SE not long after purchasing teh vehicle used in 2016, the ABS and ESC lights started coming on. We didn't really notice any change in the vehicle performance, but were concerned about the lights being on, especially since it concerned the brakes and stability. On 6/14/19 we took the vehicle to the local dealer to have this issue checked out. The receipt from that visit showed that the ABS pump and module had faults. The dealership recommended replacing both at a cost of $2,610. We asked the service person what would happen if we didn't replace them and he said the brakes would still work but the ABS might not function properly, but that we should be ok. We have continued to drive the vehicle with the lights on most of the time since then without any noticeable performance change; however, performance is starting to become an issue. The ABS and ESC lights have been remaining illuminated for quite some time now. Also in the last month or two the check engine light is now starting to come on periodically with a corresponding issue with the steering being more difficult. We are becoming more concerned about safety. As a result, we took the vehicle to an independent repair shop this week to get the problem checked out. He informed us that there is an active recall (16V913000) that would correct all of these issues. He gave us a copy of the recall and said we would need to take it to the local dealer to have the repair done. We contacted the local VW dealer and they told us the recall doesn't apply to our vehicle, so I then called the national VW customer service number and was told the same thing. What can we do to have VW honor the recall for our vehicle?

The key will not start and then won't turn off. It gets stuck in the ignition and the wheel locks. The lock and not starting happens when stationary and the nototr is off. The not turning off the car happens when it's stopped but ignition cannot be turned off.

My vehicle shuts off while driving and I see certain lights show up when this happens the I lose the control of the vehicle until it powers back on. I've already ruled out the battery and alternator in the vehicle. I looked up recalls and though there is not one associated with my VIN there are recalls that are very similar to my issue that I have from December 15, 2016. When the vehicles electronics shut of the wheel locks making me unable to turn. When the electronics come back on I regain full mobility.

We purchased this car two days ago for our 18 yo daughter and I did not notice the airbag light on. It was when she pulled into the driveway and tried to honk the horn that our attention was drawn to the light. It is at the dealer today having the clock spring repaired and costing $450. As I began to research the problem, I became aware that in 2015 VW had a recall on the clock spring of the cc and passat. I asked the dealer if this car would be covered under the recall and he said the Jetta was not under any recall. My reply, "hmmm, I guess it's just a coincidence." I had read that there was an investigation into the recall failing and that possibly there would be an expansion of the VW's being recalled for this issue which does include the Jetta 2010-2014. The dealer told me if that did happen, I would be able to get all of the expense reimbursed. It is infuriating to me that there is a known failure of the clock spring in VW's and the company is not being responsible about it. My daughter would not be safe with a car that has a failing air bag. It is morally unconscionable.

I went to drive to work and turned on my car. No radio. Nothing. No power to it. Absolutely nothing. No bluetooth for safe and hands free driving, nothing. Can't get it fixed for less than $1000. Nothing to explain what causes it. No blown fuses no anything. No explanation whatsoever.

When I approached a red light I pushed the clutch in and started to slow down. I was in the turn lane and there was an opening as I started moving feet from clutch to fuel pedal. The car lurch and came to a stop. The car had died while I was slowing down to get in the turn lane. I have called the VW dealer and they have no idea on why the car did and is still doing this. I don't feel it is safe for me or for my family, I am a firefighter and I really truly believe that the car is going cause an accident or kill us. The car has shut off on its own over twenty times in the last few months. It doesn't happen every time that the clutch is depressed, some days it doesn't do it at all. Other days it is every time or every other stop. When traveling at highways speeds the Jetta lurches like it is out of fuel even thou it has a full tank. All of the cars maintance is up to date per the dealer.

On four separate occasions we have hit pot holes in the road at moderate speed resulting in an aluminum, wheel incurring substantial bending and going out of round. When this happens the wheel goes out of balance and the car looses stability on the highway. Both my wife and I have each been driving for more that 40 years and we have never experienced this degree of fragility in the wheels of any of our prior vehicles. The wheel design is of soft aluminum and the structure is cantelevered over the brake disc giving it very little central support to resist bending when confronted with ordinary road deformities. We have kept the last two wheels that were damaged in this manner and we would be happy to make them available for inspection. The first two were kept by the dealer at the time of replacement.

When an engine stall occurs, this car requires a full reset before a restart can be performed. This is very dangerous when said reset happens while the car is moving. Meaning ' a full reset means the ignition key must first be fully turned off. When the car is in motion and the key is fully turned off, at that time the locking gear in the ignition switch engages and locks the steering wheel... while the car is in motion!!! this is a common occurrence in the manual shift transmission models.

While driving at 35mph, car stalled out. Battery light flashed, radio etc stayed on, but car had no power at all. Rolled to next intersection, turned car off, and restarted it. Took it to dealer, they said it was a software update, which they then performed. Aug. 24 exiting I95, 65mph, same thing happens, I pressed the gas and the engine was totally dead. Lights and radio stayed on. Once again I rolled to a stop, and restarted the car. Took it to the dealer, they kept it for an hour and said there was nothing wrong with my car. So I took it to another dealer. After having my car for a week they were able to duplicate my problem. Their computers were hooked up to my car at the time, and showed no faults. So they were back and forth with VW tech support, and they are flying in an engineer, and they think it might be the steering control module malfunctioning. They have had my car for two weeks now, I have no idea when it will be fixed, if ever.
