Takata recall I am a 21 year old female college student in tallahassee, fl. My parents and I chose a 2006 Volkswagen Passat to be a safe car for me after an accident, where my previous car(VW jetta) was totaled. Then to find out a little under a year after I purchased the car that the airbags have a recall I have been extremely regretful of this decision. Since that day I have been afraid to drive my car to drive my car each time I get into it I think of how risky it is to drive each time. I have heard stories of drivers throats being slit by the unsafe metal shards that deploy with the recalled airbags. I do not understand how there is still not a fix or means for drivers to be able to drive a car that is safe. I think that it is extremely unsafe and too risky to have one of the main safety mechanism in car to be a threat to drivers as well. When there are recalls on toys people are instructed to immediately return them to the store or at least throw them away and keep the toys away from their children. Now there is a major safety issue with airbags in a car and not his has been done. People have already lost their lives as a result of the faulty air bags and still nothing has been done. I am writing to hopefully get a solution to this issue.
