This is a failure of a part of the emission control system after only 35,000. The cost of the repair is $1,300! VW should be required to fix it. You would think they would be sensitive to emission system failures (and cheating)!

Passat TDI SE 2.0L I4

  • Manual transmission
  • 29,000 miles

The day I purchased the car, the emissions system failed, and would not allow me to start the car. I had to have it towed to the dealer, 30 miles away. After a week of that being fixed, I picked it up, and when I was nearly home, the exhaust system failed again, and I had to have it towed back to the dealer. They ended up replacing the entire emissions system. This cost over $1000 to fix, luckily it was covered by the warranty.
