HPFP (High pressure fuel pump) has catastrophically failed in my vehicle and is NOT covered under any warranty. My understanding is that this is a common failed problem and VW wants to charge me $5000+ to fix it. Can't believe this failed at less then 60k miles. Worst part is I was getting ready to sell this back to VW and I can't because it can't drive in under it's own power.

High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure. contaminates the fuel system with metallic debris, dealer replaced entire fuel system under extended warranty, $5560, my cost was $100. Car lost power and I coasted to the side of the road without incident. Took 1 day to fix, apparently they had all of the parts. My advice- If you are waiting for the buyback and are approaching 65000 miles, park it and wait for the check. A friend with the same year/model had his pump fail the next day at 67000.

My check engine light keeps coming on while traveling on long trips. My car stalls when stopped, feels like someone bumped into me and then it stalls. The brakes have squeaked since I bought the car.

I call VW Roadside Service at 8:28 PM as I was stranded on a dark unsafe road blocking traffic. People help me by pushing the car to the side of the road. The two truck finally arrived at 11:35 PM. The car only has 15,998 miles and the "main Fuel Pump" failed. The car just stalled and had I been on the Freeway I would have been hit from behind. Doing a lot of research and think this may be an ongoing problem for the Passat, I view this to be an unsafe vehicle.
