Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Airbag warning light comes on after changing battery. Local mechanics can't turn it off. Dealer wants large amount to "diagnose" the problem. Several other owners have the same issue with the seatbag warning system coming on randomly...very dangerous...and VW knows about the problem. Has been happening for years. The other issue is with the engine...the 2004 Touareg engine blew at less than said we must have driven the car when it was hot. Just nonsense. Several others have had major problems with the Touaregs.. engine problems and the transmissions/engines surge on slowing down or even speeding up. Tons of problems with the vehicle line and VW America and germany will not do anything about. The engine blew when it was about 100 degrees outside.. we always service our vehicles regularly.

The contact owns a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. While driving at 45 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. All warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was taken to a dealer multiple times. The contact was unsure about what repairs were performed however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000. The VIN was unavailable.
