my 2001 S80 is doing the exact same thing... it stalls while driving on highway and city i noticed that in the city it was after i removed my foot off the accelerator and was coasting.. I brought it to the Volvo dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong per the computer..... but it stalled on them.... when it stalls you can start it right back up.....
this can be caused by the ETM. Volvo expanded warranty coverage to 10 years / 200,000 miles for the ETM, more info here and here.
