Mechanic encountered oil that had leaked out of the turbo (cannot remember where he said it had happened). Apparently this had happened to another clients Volvo too as an initial symptom and the turbo went on to destruct shortly afterwards leaving them stranded.
This is somebody who has serviced all of our cars for years and that I know and trust completely and works at a reputable garage.
Volvo for life.... well as long as you define 80k miles as life!
