Mitsubishi Recalls 55,000 Outlander Sports To Repair Seat Belts
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport recalled for seat belts that might not hold you in a crash.

— Mitsubishi is recalling about 55,000 model year 2013-2015 Outlander Sport vehicles because of problems with the front passenger seat belts.

Mitsubishi noticed the problem in July 2014, when the automaker received a warranty claim for a loose front passenger seat belt lap end attachment fastener. An inspection by the supplier indicated a torque tool may have been incorrectly set up and caused some fasteners to loosen.

The inspection showed the tool was set to tighten the parts at a value below specification. That might sound like a minor issue, unless you get in a crash and the loosened fastener causes the seat belt to detach.

Mitsubishi says the recalled 2013-2015 Outlander Sports were built July 20, 2012, to July 23, 2014.

Owners should have received recall notices that say Mitsubishi dealers will replace the front passenger seat belt lap end attachment fastener.

With questions or concerns, owners of the recalled 2013-2015 Outlander Sports should call the automaker at 714-372-6000 and refer to recall number SR-14-011.
