Honda Recalls Accord, Civic and Pilot To Replace Takata Airbag Inflators
Over 104,000 Honda vehicles need the driver's side airbag inflators replaced before they explode.

— Add another 104,000 older-model Honda vehicles to the millions of recalled Honda vehicles with exploding airbags manufactured by Takata.

Honda says the 2001 Accord, 2004 Civic and 2008 Honda Pilot need the driver-side front airbag inflators replaced. Those metal inflators have caused millions of cars to be recalled by about 10 manufacturers after reports the airbags were exploding.

Airbag manufacturer Takata is still trying to find the root cause of why the metal inflators explode and send shrapnel into occupants. Honda used more Takata airbags than any other automaker, and many of the reported deaths and injuries have occurred in Honda vehicles.

The automaker says it doesn't know when this recall will begin. Honda dealers will need to replace the driver's side front airbag inflators in the 2001 Accord, 2004 Civic and 2008 Honda Pilot.
