BMW i8 Recalled For Stability and Braking Problems
BMW recalls 16 model year 2015 i8 cars to replace the dynamic stability control hydraulic units.

— BMW is recalling 16 model year 2015 i8 cars that can experience braking and stability problems. The problem was traced to improperly drilled holes inside the dynamic stability control hydraulic unit.

On November 11, 2015, BMW was informed by the dynamic stability control hydraulic unit supplier of a possible manufacturing error. BMW believed any restricted movement of the stability control hydraulic unit pistons could be detected in the assembly plant. However, that view turned out to be false, so further tests were conducted and determined the only way to fix the problem was to call back the cars.

The automaker says it has received no reports of accidents or injuries related to the defect.

The recalled BMW 2015 i8 cars were manufactured May 29, 2015, to June 5, 2015.

BMW says the recall should begin February 10, 2016, when dealers will replace the dynamic stability control hydraulic unit, if needed.

Owners of the recalled 2015 BMW i8 can always call 800-525-7417 with any questions or concerns.
