Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter 2500/3500 Vans Recalled
The dreaded tire pressure label curse strikes Daimler as 2,200 Sprinter vans recalled.

— Daimler Vans is recalling more than 2,200 model year 2015-2016 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans because of incorrect tire labels.

This type of recall seems to be occurring on a frequent basis and is considered extremely minor, but a recall must be ordered because incorrect labels violate government safety standards.

Daimler learned of the problem in November 2015 when a supplier admitted the maximum load capacity was printed incorrectly on the tire pressure labels. A worker entered incorrect data about the total van weight which caused the labels to print the wrong details.

The automaker says a safety hazard can occur if the wheel load, axle load or the permissible total van weight is exceeded. Possible problems include issues with steering and handling or axle and tire failure.

The recalled vans were manufactured April 29, 2015, to December 15, 2015.

Daimler is currently notifying customers with directions to take the vans to Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner dealers to replace the incorrect tire pressure label.

Owners of the 2015-2016 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans may contact Daimler at 877-762-8267.
