Ever since we bought it it has had a terrible lag in power. When we had Simonize applied to it being new, they gave us a loaner of the same model. What a difference, felt like it had a turbo. I complained to the service dept when we picked ours up but they said nothing was wrong with it. When we moved to Idaho a year or so later I told our new Mazda dealer about it, getting the same response.

So now its Sept 2023 and it still runs like a turd. Its terrible. But then its not so much. Then it is again

Just leased this. Took it into the shop at the dealer. It is starting to get really painful to drive at lower speeds or in stop-go traffic. At a stop, it will take off and really lag as it shifts. Happens at around 1 to 5 mph, and also from 10 to 40 range slightly. Worst is in traffic. It lags, no real pick-up and definitely not at all like those I test drove - it feels like a yo-yo. I had a 2018 CX5 rental while the dealership was checking it out. The 2018 rental drove so much smoother.

This rocking at lower speeds when accelerating and forward lunges and lags are getting fairly annoying. Dealership drove it, reported no error codes and said it was "normal for the SkyActiv Transmission". I find this incredibly hard to believe. They said the vehicle will "self-learn" how I drive which umm... what? Or "they might" push out a firmware update. Again I don't see the onboard PC being AI-like or the problem being solved by firmware. I just want to document this, in case this turns out to be a lemon. My 2010 Equinox did a similar thing and that was one of the reasons I went with Mazda, but apparently the SkyActiv Transmissions aren't any better that the Chevy 2010's. Not sure on the Lease what my legal recourse is here. but if it doesn't "Iron-itself out" or get better, I don't know what to do. Hopefully it just needs a break-in period or something.
