While driving my wife’s 2012 Mazda 6 last week, the car was pulling to the right and I then noticed the steering wheel was not straight. Instead it was positioned as if I was turning all the way to the right, but I was going in a straight line. When I applied the brakes I heard a squealing sound. After taking it to a repair shop, I was told the sub frame was completely rusted and the engine was dangling. Had I continued on my way, driving on the highway at a high rate of speed, I’m sure an accident would have occurred. It’s also interesting to note that when the repair shop called the Mazda for a price, Mazda told them the sub frame was on back order until the end of October. In the end I will spend around $1500 parts and labor for a a USED sub frame.
