We purchased a 2022 XT5 2L 4 cyl turbo vehicle and when you have the AC ON there is noise heard in the cabin. It sounds like some vibration type of noise only when the AC is ON. We turn off the AC the noise goes away.
We took it into the dealership for a warranty claim. The dealer technician and service writer both heard the noise during a test drive. The technician drove a different 22 XT5 with a 2.0L turbo engine and he heard the same noise. They reported that this is a normal occurrence and closed the ticket.
This is a very annoying sound/situation while driving the car. There must be something not correct to only hear this noise while the AC is ON.
Update from Jan 30, 2025: In my opinion from my diagnosis, it is the electrical cooling fan vibration. With the AC off the electrical cooling fan is off. There is no noise heard inside the cabin. When you first turn on the AC, there is no heat to remove so the cooling fan is not turning. I lowered the inner cabin temperature and the electrical cooling fan would start up and as more heat from the condenser increases the electrical fan speeds up. You can hear the buzz inside the cabin. When I was first checking this out, I started a cold engine and eventually increased the engine RPM to 2K+, and the buzz would appear and this would be expected with the engine heat and AC cooling heat combined would turn on the electrical cooling fan. I will call the dealer and have them check out the electrical cooling fan. Nothing is fixed yet!
