The remote start is important when it's 40 degrees below in the winter in Winnipeg. That's also the time when the car's block heater needs to be plugged in. It's pointless to have a remote starter if it doesn't work when you don't want to go outside on a freezing morning. The remote works if the car is not plugged in, but the interior heater does not activate - so the car is running but the interior does not warm up.
