CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Equinox is plagued by a heating problem, as in the heater only blows cold air.

The reported cause of this problem is a small door, known as the air temperature blend door, which allows air to flow past the heater core. This door has a plastic connecting shaft to an electric motor and the shaft is prone to breaking after a few years. The problem has a typical repair cost of over $800.

The 2006 Equinox also has a number of reported problems ranging from the key getting stuck in the ignition, to failing speed sensors, and trouble starting the engine. All in all, this car sounds like one worth avoiding.

In the am, since the car has been sitting for more than 10 hours, the car will turn on with no problems but about 5 minutes into your drive the car will start to skip. You will feel it through the gas pedal. When you get to a red light or a stop sign the car feels like if someone is trying to rock it back and forth (with a jerking forward move) VERY ANNOYING!!!!

If you have to turn off the car and then try turning it back on within 5 hours the car will give you problems starting up again. It tries to crank but that's all it does. This car is NOT made for you to put your foot on the gas pedal while your turning on the car. All I can do is keep turning the key till the car turns on. What to do?
