The driver's side airbag sensor began coming on and then off on my 2009 Impala for 2 years. The dealer would fix the problem, no charge, say it was just a sensor. It would stay off until I would hit a bump (or so it seemed it was a bump in the road) and it would be on again. The light was on again but this time the dealer said it was the passenger side. This time on yearly inspection, they said it had thrown a "new code" and the cost to repair was $900 and change. They failed the car for inspection on safety issues and it has a reject sticker on it. We have 15 days to get the repair done or park it. Having no choice, we told them to order the parts. This seems to be an issue that GM should take care of reading the complaints here and this outrageous cost to repair. I have to drive this car to work, I have to borrow the money for the repair - finally have it paid for and now this!

AIR BAG light stays on and feel this is a manufacturing problem which will be a safety issue. Chevrolet should look into this issue and let Chevrolet owners know of some resolution. Chevrolet's reputation may be at risk and litigation may occur with all the complaints submitted.

Service air bag light comes on every so often at first and then stays on.Take to dealer to get repairs made.I am told that this is a problem with connector under passenger seat. Have repairs done cost $110.00.A short time later I hear a squeaking noise can not locate where it is coming from. Finally determine that noise is only present when wife is riding in car and noise is coming from here seat this took almost a year to determine due to the fact that I only was hearing the squeak when she was in the car. I got a recall in the mail for passenger side air bag. Service air bag light returns to message board and stays on .Take car to dealer for repairs they do recall light stays on noise remains in seat after repairs. No costs for repairs. Return to dealer next day and I am mad. Tech checks out trouble with scanner informs me that problem is with air bag module located under passenger seat will have to be replaced at costs of $1129.00 also seat frame will have to be repaired at an additional cost of $1025.00. Service manager says air bags should not deploy unintentionally however in a crash air bags may or may not deploy. This is an unacceptable situation since the car is unsafe and cannot be sold or traded without repairs being made.Car was purchased new was always garage kept was babied and is 7 years old but only has 64000 miles . I might be shopping for a Ford or Chrysler. Have always been a loyal GM customer, just saying.

Air bag light goes on an off. The light will go on and stay on for about a week and then just turn out itself. Other times it will flash on and immediately go off. Took to Dealer under factory recall on air bags. Dealer told me they fixed passengers side under recall but the problem is with the driver side seat and that is not under recall order. They would be happy to look at that side at the going rate of $90.00 per hour plus parts. Cost could be $400 -500. Why?? same problem.

Chev recall #16V507000 reported a problem with the air bag sensor on the passenger seat side. I reported that I had the recall notice but that I also had the same problem with the air bag but on the driver side.

When the air bag light came on, I could get it to turn off by moving the driver's seat back and forth and/or up and down. This seems to be the same type of problem reported in the recall for the passenger seat.

When I took the care in for the recall, they checked the passenger seat wiring under warranty but charged me $130.12 to get the driver's set wiring fixed. They said the recall was only for the passenger seat.

SEEMS GM DOESN'T CAR IF THE DRIVER GETS KILLED OR INJURED.

Air Bag light stays on after start-up and message system says to service air bag. This is apparently not an issue that is just a handful of vehicles and GM refuses to address the issue. I only buy GM products but I have noticed a severe decline in quality in the past few vehicles I have bought. I do not have the expendable income to throw money this (and other issues with this car, a truck we bought and another GM vehicle)

I know its most likely the bumper sensors or one other issue but if there is any more info it would be appreciated

Air bag light goes on an off. The light will go on and stay on for about a week and then just turn out itself. Other times it will flash on and immediately go off. Haven't mentioned it to the dealer. Just hope this is not a safety concern that the air bag will not go off in a crash.

My car airbag was fix twice by Chevrolet under warranty. When warranty ran out air bag light came on again. Was told by same dealer who fixed it twice, it would cost $180 to find why the light was on, then to repair it would be parts and labor

air bag light staying on after start up

No recall for my car, but the service air bag light comes on and stays on, once in a while it will shut off and then come back on. Contacted Chevy, they state that there isn't a recall for my car. Just wondering if the air bag will deploy on it's own if I ever actually need it.

Had a speed sensor repair / Air Bag. Following week have Service Air Bag.

Return to dealer and scan tool has no Air Bag fault in SRS.

So dealer says need the car for several hours to find problem. No repair yet. Most of the time Air Bag stays on but sometimes the fault disappears.

The airbag module failed and had to be replaced. GM paid $316 and the dealer charged us $300 to replace the module. This happened a couple of days after the GM dealer replaced our battery when the airbag light came on and would not go off. With such low mileage and a well-maintained car, the module and battery should not have needed to be replaced.

Air bag stays on --will go off for short periods and then reappears.. Senior on fixed income and cannot afford a major repair bill. Car has never been in a accident or abused. If the air bags are required by law the company's should have to provide quality components and a warranty for the life of the car.

Our government has failed us again and has not protected us from the greed of the auto industry. If a accident occurs, air bags fail, GM will be hearing from my attorney. Government should mandate that airbag complaints and failures be investigated by the auto industry and no cost repairs made.

The service air bag light has been going on and off for three months. Finally it stays on and no one can find out what it is.. Makes a loud popping noise then the light comes on. Sounds like air bag is going to deploy. Duets in Lincoln never could find it out. GM should have had every one that had a Impala notified of the recalls on the 2009. No one told us and I have four kids that I cart around in this car, what is it going to take, one of them to die? Before they will take response ability.

Another safety issue! Well good for GM to fix but they need to make people aware of this it is going on a lot. A loose wire under the seat fixed it. What would happen if your air bag did not keep you safe during a crash. Very serious!
