My 2001 T&C was parked in my driveway when I decided to crank it to ge the air conditioning going while I went to shut the gate to our yard. When I turned around the car was going down the driveway with the driver's side door still open. The van didn't stop until it ran over the neighbor's fence and got caught in it. When I got to the car I noticed it was in reverse (had it been in neutral it probably wouldn't have moved because the area is so flat). I don't know how it got into reverse because I didn't even get in the car, just my arm to crank it. The emergency brake wasn't on since it was such a flat place. Once I got the van loose I tried in vain to see if it would go into reverse without my foot on the brake, but I couldn't make it happen so that tells me I didn't accidentally cause it by hitting the gear shaft with my arm. I also tried repeatedly to turn the car off with it in gear (of all kinds) to see if it was possible that I had not left it in park, but again I couldn't do it. This tells me it is a vehicle defect. I have contacted my local dealership and all I was told was that they hadn't heard of anything like that. They didn't even suggest that I bring it in! I'm very nervous about my van now because I just don't know what to expect. Thank god my kids weren't in the car and there wasn't anyone playing behind it or in the yard to which it crashed. This could've been disastrous. It is a serious problem and needs to be looked into. My van only has 52,000 miles on it. We bought it new in Nov. 2001.

While driving at any speed, the vehicle will not come out of low gear. The dealer replaced the tcm module on the vehicle. Also while driving at any speed, there will be a noise coming from the front wheels. The dealer needed to replace the sway bar bushings. The automatic lift gate on the vehicle would no move up or down on command and needed replacement. The manufacturer and the dealer are aware of the problem.

Electrical battery/no start had vehicle less than 4 months with a dead battery in driveway. Dealer said it was our problem. Purchased new battery and starting noticing a "bucking" or "surging" as you were driving. After the repair attempt for the surging and bucking it would also stall while driving in parking lots, stopping at stop lights, backing out of parking spaces/driveways. When this happened you lost all power in vehicle. Had to be put back in park to restart. Sometimes would take 4 or 5 tries before you could actually be "on the road". dealer claimed couldn't verify. They did however on second visit replace whole transmission. We only had 32,000 miles on it. It was in shop for that repair for 23 days. Still didn't correct problem. They replaced that PCM or a BCM not sure which. On invoices it mentions both so not sure if they did both or a typo on their part. Irregardless of which part what ever they did altered my odometer by adding approximately 2 thousand miles to my vehicle. Dealer states can't fix it as that would be tampering with odometer. Vehicle still bucks and surges and have called out tow truck on at least 2 other occasions for a complete no start/power. It has been in the shop at two different dealerships for more than 6 visits..still isn't fixed. So it has the battery issue and the stalling issue. Now of course it also has the odometer issue. We have had problems with the rear air conditioner but dealer stated that was the way it was made. Also have had some black molding/stripping fall off of windows/sliding door. Haven't done anything about that as the stalling and no start problems are more important. Got no satisfactory response from dealer or Chrysler so have contacted a lemon lawyer. Hope no else has to go through what we did.
